The Connecticut (or Hartford or Wicked) Wits were a group of late-18th-century poets who first attempted to write a distinctly American literature. THEY FAILED.
Damone it´s a big loser, was a mediocre singer and a bad husband, the love of the life of Pier was James Dean...everybody knows that...
ReplyDeleteActually, I didn't know that, but now I do! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ, Vic Damone has the most beautiful voice of all the crooners, even Frank Sinatra said he was the essential baritone and had "the best pipes in the business" and he wished he had his "pipes". I am inclined to believe that Frank would know if anyone would. He sold million of records and can still sing to this day at 82. He proved that by having a concert this past Jan. to a sold out crowd. People came from all over the world. In England, they loved him so much they almost knighted him. He is the "King of the Baritones", long live the King!!! Even Pavorotti called him "The Voice". I tend to agree with him. He has had a "resurgance" lately and I am glad and hope he goes on forever, if we are lucky he will. As for being a "bad husband", who ran around on who? If I remember, Pier had an affair with an older man for money and devastated Vic. Better check your records, it is in his autobiography.

Thanks for commenting, A.F. I agree with you and Frank about Vic's "pipes." (I was thanking the first commenter about the James Dean info, of which I was unaware!) I do wish, however, Vic had had better arrangements for many of his songs. But he's got that voice! So, I say, let your fandom continue to burn... ;)
