Tiger Woods: Part IV (If I'd send you all of my books for free...)

From today's Hartford Courant:

"Sales of the book Get a Grip on Physics are soaring on Amazon.com because a copy can be seen on the floor of Tiger Woods's mangled SUV in pictures released by Florida police."

I need to hang around, with copies of my books in tow, of course, more places that might turn into tabloidy crime scenes!

Now THAT'D be a good reason to get on Twitter: to learn about tabloidy crime scenes as soon as they happen.

(Note to self: re-think Twitter avoidance.)

If someone is willing to spend $223.65...

...for a used book (even one as good as A Storied Singer: Frank Sinatra as Literary Conceit) on Amazon that one can buy new for $75.15, shouldn't the author be willing to read it live to the buyer?

Well, if nothing else, the seller should have his/her head examined!

I know the figure means little...

...but when my 2002 book, A Storied Singer: Frank Sinatra as Literary Conceit, was mentioned in the big Sinatra and cultural studies article published last week in The Chronicle of Higher Education Review (and posted on this blog on 1/20/09), its "Amazon.com Sales Rank" jumped from close to the 3,000,000 mark to under 200,000.

Ooh, baby, somebody must've bought it!

(Too bad the author didn't mention my 2008 Entasis Press anthology Sinatra: But Buddy I'm a Kind of Poem ...HINT HINT)
