My Top 10 Favorite KELLYs

10. The Kelly Blue Book
A man can be practical, can't he?

9. Comedian Kelly Monteith
    Back when comedians were funny

8.  "Kelly Gaines," Woody's girlfriend on Cheers
If for nothing else than the "Kelly Song"

7.  Kelly Hu, from the new Hawaii-Five-0
Almost makes me want to become a police officer

6.  George "Machine Gun" Kelly
Because, behind every great man, there's a smarter woman!

     from Wikipedia:

During the Prohibition era of the 1920s and 1930s Kelly worked as a bootlegger for himself as well as a colleague. After a short time, and several run-ins with the local Memphis police, he decided to leave town and head west with his girlfriend. To protect his family and escape law enforcement officers, he changed his name to George R. Kelly.  He continued to commit smaller crimes and bootlegging. He was arrested in Tulsa, OK, for smuggling liquor onto an Indian Reservation in 1928 and sentenced for three years to Leavenworth Penitentiary, Kansas, beginning February 11, 1928. He was reportedly a model inmate and was released early. Shortly thereafter, Kelly married Kathryn Thorne, who purchased Kelly’s first machine gun and went to great lengths to familiarize his name in the underground crime circles. She was known to hand out the expended .45cal cartridge casings from his Tommy Gun as souvenirs. Some historians claim that Kathryn even went so far as to plot some small bank robberies...

5"Private Kelly" from Kelly's Heroes -1970
The only Clint Eastwood character I really like

4.  Kelly Reno, the boy in The Black Stallion - 1979
Almost tempts me to get shipwrecked on a deserted island with a wild horse

3.  Kelly Ripa
C'mon, even Kelly herself wouldn't rank herself above the next two!

 2.  Grace Kelly
Almost makes me want to buy a boat!

1.  Gene Kelly
This choice CAN'T surprise you, can it?

Be sure to sign my "Kelly Ripa, Give Gil a Chance" Audition Petition:

20 May 2012

Top five things I WILL NOT do during my potential audition with Kelly Ripa

...since I've just learned that Ms. Ripa suffers from Misophonia, a rare disorder that causes her to become enraged when she hears someone chewing, slurping or swallowing.

5.  Chew Marukawa, the fruity Japanese gum that my daughters love and that they always get when we visit the various eateries owned by their Aunt and Uncle in Columbus, OH (Thai on High, Nida's Sushi, and Best of the Wurst)

4.  Eat a peanut butter sandwich on Wonder Bread, even though, if I remember correctly, "helps build strong bodies twelve ways"

3.  Have a Slurpee, which I've just learned you can get free on May 23rd at 7-11

2.  Allow Kelly to do this again (and certainly engage in such behavior myself!):

And the number one thing I WILL NOT do during my potential audition with Kelly Ripa is

Swallow hard when I realize I'm auditioning with KELLY RIPA!

It's called the transitive property!

If Kelly Ripa wants Anderson Cooper to be her co-host, and Anderson and I are old friends,

doesn't that really mean KELLY WANTS ME, mathematically speaking?!!!

A baker's dozen of reasons why signing the "Kelly Ripa, Give Gil a Chance" petition makes sense

13. Look how cute they'd be together!

12. The petition only seeks an audition.

11. He's only a stone's throw away in Connecticut (if you have a really good arm).

10. He'll do for morning talk, what Charles Van Doren did for quiz shows.

9. He promises to be more current in his references than "Charles Van Doren."

8. Gil's perfectly fine with Live with Kelly and Gilly Lee

7.  He's wanted to do a talk show since he used to watch Dinah Shore's afternoon shows in the '70s. (Okay, okay, same problem as "Charles Van Doren,")

6. Kelly's already shown she's quite amenable to older Catholic guys.

5.  He's only asking for an audition.

4. The other activities associated with co-hosting will require him to wear his tuxedo, and he LOVES dressing up.  (PS.: He owns the tux, so that'll save the show some rental fees!)

3. Kelly's Electrolux commercials feature the theme from Bewitched, and Gil LOVES Elizabeth Montgomery.

2. Aw, c'mon, Elizabeth Montgomery IS an improvement over "Charles Van Doren" and "Dinah Shore"!

and the #1 reason why signing the "Kelly Ripa, Give Gil a Chance" petition makes sense:

Gil's seriously considering moving all his money to TD Bank!
