R.I.P., Maurice Sendak

Although, to be honest, I don't think he's dead.
I just think he's been sent to his room without his supper.

It's called the transitive property!

If Kelly Ripa wants Anderson Cooper to be her co-host, and Anderson and I are old friends,

doesn't that really mean KELLY WANTS ME, mathematically speaking?!!!

A baker's dozen of reasons why signing the "Kelly Ripa, Give Gil a Chance" petition makes sense

13. Look how cute they'd be together!

12. The petition only seeks an audition.

11. He's only a stone's throw away in Connecticut (if you have a really good arm).

10. He'll do for morning talk, what Charles Van Doren did for quiz shows.

9. He promises to be more current in his references than "Charles Van Doren."

8. Gil's perfectly fine with Live with Kelly and Gilly Lee

7.  He's wanted to do a talk show since he used to watch Dinah Shore's afternoon shows in the '70s. (Okay, okay, same problem as "Charles Van Doren,")

6. Kelly's already shown she's quite amenable to older Catholic guys.

5.  He's only asking for an audition.

4. The other activities associated with co-hosting will require him to wear his tuxedo, and he LOVES dressing up.  (PS.: He owns the tux, so that'll save the show some rental fees!)

3. Kelly's Electrolux commercials feature the theme from Bewitched, and Gil LOVES Elizabeth Montgomery.

2. Aw, c'mon, Elizabeth Montgomery IS an improvement over "Charles Van Doren" and "Dinah Shore"!

and the #1 reason why signing the "Kelly Ripa, Give Gil a Chance" petition makes sense:

Gil's seriously considering moving all his money to TD Bank!

Will be ending the Spring 2012 semester in a great way tomorrow...

...as I will be reading with Sarah F. (for the second week in a row) some American Neo-Latin poems that only a handful of living folks actually have read.

On top of that, Sarah (poor woman!) is reading the part of my dissertation that discusses one of the poems.  And even fewer people have read that thing!

I'm kind of excited.

Okay, all, we're starting a petition...

...to get me an audition as co-host of Live with Kelly!

Please sign, by going here!

All we are saying is give Gil a chance!

Alright, folks, how can I get an audition on "Live with Kelly..."?

Let's brainstorm this because they are STILL looking for a co-host!

Read here!

It's time to act!  Ideas/contacts/inside information/desperate measure?

Remember:  I do not need to have equal billing, and salary is negotiable.

No bad idea goes untested!

Back in 1997, Beautful South released an album entitled Blue is the Color, on which was a nice little song, "Little Blue" that begins:

You can't write a novel from a briefcase
You can write a poem from a trench
You can dream a dream from A to B
But you can't catch a bus from a bench
You don't back a horse called Striding Snail
You don't name your boat Titanic II
So why when I see your happy smiling face
Do I always end up singing Little Blue
Little Blue, how do you do
Your smile looks like heaven
but your eyes hold a storm about to brew
Little Blue...

No one, of course, would disagree with the language in bold print above...well, that is, unless you're an "Australia [sic] billionaire"!

Oy!
